Sydney, Australia, Tuesday 23 June 2009: ninemsn will trial a live stream of TODAY on Wednesday 24 June, in preparation for the launch of an ongoing live webcast from Monday 29 June.

In an Australian and New Zealand first, people will be able to watch TODAY live each weekday morning on television or on ninemsn, further enhancing ninemsn’s video offering and Channel Nine’s audience reach.

TODAY Executive Producer, Tom Malone said: "It's great for TODAY, as it will allow early office workers the opportunity to catch up with their favourite bits of the show right at their desks."

Andrew Hunter, ninemsn Head of News, Sport and Finance said: "This is unprecedented for an Australian commercial television network and ninemsn is looking forward to extending TODAY's audience through its live stream broadcast. This allows viewers who might be at work or away from home to tune in to TODAY.

"The way people consume news and video is rapidly changing and Australians increasingly expect to be able to watch high-quality video content online. We already stream live video of all major breaking news events as they happen as well as the pre-scheduled nightly news bulletins.

"Yesterday we went live with the train crash in Washington DC and every weeknight we stream the Nine News bulletins from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The addition of TODAY almost doubles this weekly live output to 30-plus hours making ninemsn the undisputed home of live news and current affairs video on the web," said Andrew.

Ninemsn streams an average of 11 million videos per month* comprising news segments, live news, 9RAW – unpackaged news vision captured by Nine News and streaming of the 6pm news bulletin.

The official launch of the live stream will coincide with TODAY’s broadcast from New Zealand next week.
